S/N 292048, .38 caliber, 23-1/2 in. octagon barrel, marked "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A./KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860." and "38 W.C.F.", lever action, checkered grip, LOP 13-1/2 in., with modern hard plastic carrying case - Note: Per the accompanying letter from the Cody Firearms Museum, this rifle was received in the Winchester warehouse on July 9, 1889, and shipped out August 12 of the same year as order number 219.ÿ
