S/N 67518, .44WCF caliber, 24-1/4 in. half octagon barrel, marked "WINCHESTER'S - REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT/KING'S - IMPROVEMENT - PATENTED. MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860.", standard second model receiver, case hardened, lever action, engraved monogram to left sideplate "HTS", single trigger, figured walnut stock, checkered grip, crescent steel buttplate with trapdoor, beech and graduated peep sight, LOP 13-1/2 in.ÿ - Note: Included is a copy of the letter from Cody Firearms Museum showing this rifle was shipped from Winchester on March 17, 1881, as order number 24588. It further shows a subsequent return for repair in August of 1896. Research shows this repair to have been a replaced stock and refinishing to all metal components.Also, an article accompanies this lot which attributes this firearm as the monogrammed mate to serial number 67517. strong factory blue finish, right side of octagon barrel portion with some evidence of surface oxidation and attempted cleaning, light spotting at bottom of magazine tube, second model receiver with minor spotting on dust cover and rail, slightly mottled area at right sideplate, bent front sight, strong case colors throughout, tight mechanics
Purchased items not picked up in Richmond by noon on Sunday will then be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
