Vases and Ewers Burslem, England (established 1815), baluster form covered with blue and white flowers on gilded and textured Slater's Patent tapestry background, deep rose on neck/top rim and foot, impressed on bottom "DOULTON/LAMBETH/ENGLAND" and "DOULTON/SLATER'S/PATENT" with "411" and "F", 10-5/8 in.; baluster form body with long neck and high arched handle, the spout shaped by pinching top rim, wide flower band around body of white and lime-green flowers on gilded and textured ground, dark-green glaze overall, impressed on bottom with Doulton seal, crown and lion, "DOULTON/SLATER'S/PATENT" and "7208" with incised initials "LB", 9-1/2 in.,. Notes: John Slater (1844 - 1914) was the Art Director at Doulton & Co. Burslem from 1887 until his death in 1914. The ware marked "DOULTON & SLATERS PATENT" was made by use of a decorative technique in which fabrics were impressed into the clay surface.. Provenance: Private Asheville, North Carolina Collection
