Burslem, England (established 1815), bulbous bottle form with long neck with three low-relief palmetto motifs around each body on a gilded and textured background with white and light-blue flowers, brown-glazed neck with blue tripartite leaf motifs just above shoulder, impressed Doulton seal with crown and lion and "DOULTON/SLATER'S/PATENT" and incised artist's initial "LB", 15-1/4 in.,. Notes: John Slater (1844 - 1914) was the Art Director at Doulton & Co. Burslem from 1887 until his death in 1914. The ware marked "DOULTON & SLATERS PATENT" was made by use of a decorative technique in which fabrics were impressed into the clay surface.. Provenance: Private Asheville, North Carolina Collection
