possibly 58 ga., 36 in. octagonal to round barrel marked "US" in an oval and an "eagle head/P" in an oval proof marks, dated 1817 on lock plate, firing mechanism appears to work, brass furniture, metal ramrod, smooth bore, lock plate marked with "HARPERS FERRY/1817" behind hammer and part of an eagle in front of hammer; Provenance: Estate of The Honorable Thomas Alexander Lohm, Maryland
cracks and loss of wood to left face, loss of wood at rear of lock plate, light rust to interior of barrel, corrosion and pitting to barrel and loss of wood at flash pan, tight splits in wood at right fore arm, left side of barrel with dents, metal with dark brown patina, wood with marks, scratches and dents consistent with age and use
