serial number 159549 stamped in four places under frame, circa 1859, .31 caliber percussion revolver, cylinder engraved with a stagecoach scene and stamped "COLTS PATENT No. 159546", three screw frame stamped "COLTS PATENT", 6 in. octagonal barrel engraved "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY", brass trigger guard with "M" and "V" stamped on left side, overall length 11 in. - Provenance: From the Collection of Ashley Halsey, Jr., Alexandria and Spotsylvania, Virginia
patina and wear consistent with age and use, pitting, minor rust and scratches to exterior of barrel, oxidation and wear to engraving on cylinder, rust to interior barrel and cylinders, wood handle with dings and scratches, firearm appears to function mechanically
