(Attributed to Davis Brown, Arden, North Carolina, 1895-1967), thick brown glaze, applied facial features including inset eyes with pierced pupils, incised eyebrow, mustache, and goatee, long sloping nose with articulated wart, broken china teeth in open mouth, angled horns over spout, applied strap handle from shoulder to top of jug, adjacent to “Brown Pottery” stamp, 16-1/2 in.. Condition: possible restoration to left horn and left ear; glaze voids and anomalies as made, 7 in. half circle crack on bottom of base with 1 in. up onto side of base, small associated chip.
