New York or New Jersey, early 19th century, arched painted dial decorated with floral spandrels and a songbird, seconds hand and date aperture, brass eight-day movement, the figured mahogany case with broken-arch pediment, quarter columns and turned feet, weights, pendulum and key, 98-1/2 x 23 x 12-1/2 in. refinished, feet and bottom board replaced, case with scattered veneer cracks and warping with some areas of fill and other minor patches, dial with generally even crackle, some flaking at mounting posts, slight bend at one corner with associated losses, wooden dial surround in hood replaced, works possibly original (later shims at case uprights), other surface wear and scratches, possibly original saddle board. Notes: May 19, 1854 written inside of waist door, possibly the date when purchased by John Wilson Stout. Lot accompanied by a card found in the base of watch maker John W. Benson of New Brunswick, New Jersey and history of the Stout- Howell family including descendant John Wilson Stout who worked closely with Thomas Edison.. Provenance: Said to be by descent in the Stout - Howell family of New Jersey

Condition

refinished, feet and bottom board replaced, case with scattered veneer cracks and warping with some areas of fill and other minor patches, dial with generally even crackle, some flaking at mounting posts, slight bend at one corner with associated losses, wooden dial surround in hood replaced, works possibly original (later shims at case uprights), other surface wear and scratches, possibly original saddle board

2. In-house shipping.  Brunk Auctions provides in-house shipping for many items. Brunk Auctions will provide a shipping quote which includes shipping, materials, labor and insurance.

All international customs duties and other tariffs are the responsibility of the Buyer. The Auction House and the shipper will declare the selling price as the value in all cases.

All packages will be shipped with signature required.

Shipping arrangements are made only after the invoice is paid.  The payment for shipping is a separate charge from payment of your lots.
