Dettmar, Salem, North Carolina" on top, brass blade front sight, notched standing rear sight, engraved flourishes to lock plate and hammer, stamped "LEMAN, LANCTR, PA", double set triggers, likely walnut half stock, carved cheek rest, brass butt plate and trigger guard, steel forend cap, 58 in. overall lengthNote: William Dettmer apprenticed under Salem gunsmith Timothy Vogler. He was one of the last Gunsmiths working in the trade in Salem, North Carolina. William emigrated with his brother from Germany to Salem in 1849.
