Carved and Laminated Rosewood Slipper Chairs

Belter, 19th century: the first with tall carved back centering a yellow silk damask-upholstered cushion (see Schwartz, [The Furniture of John Henry Belter and the Rococo Revival,] catalog no. 25, for an apparently identical example), 44 in.; the second with oak leaf and grape pierce-carved back and matching yellow silk-upholstered seat, (a related example illustrated in Dubrow, [American Furniture of the 19th Century,] p. 109), 44 in.
Condition
both in very good condition overall, very minor veneer chips at backs, refinished with some traces of early varnish, typical minor wear and flaws, fine modern upholstery in good condition (not examined under upholstery)
