Chinese, 18th century, two nearly identical baluster form vases with high bulbous shoulders and elongated bodies, ending in round bases, encrustations on both, 11-1/4 x 4-1/2 in. and 11-1/4 x 4-3/4 in.
Notes: In 1752, the Dutch ship, Geldermalsen, sank in the South China Sea, having been laden with Chinese export porcelain.  This shipwrecked hoard was discovered in the early 1980s, and was famously auctioned by Christie's in Amsterdam as the Nanking Cargo. Â
