Chinese, 18th century, shipwreck pottery storage jars, both of bulbous form with loop form lug handles on the tops of the shoulders, both with encrustations; 5-3/4 x 7-1/2  in. and 4-1/2 x 6 in.

Notes: In 1752, the Dutch ship, Geldermalsen, sank in the South China Sea, having been laden with Chinese export porcelain.  This shipwrecked hoard was discovered in the early 1980s, and was famously auctioned by Christie's in Amsterdam as the Nanking Cargo.
