American, early 20th century, depicting Mill #1 and Mill #2 of the Plymouth Cordage Company (1825-1965) Plymouth, Massachusetts, one with "Hurrah for the Work" on a bottom green banner, silk on silk ground, both 34 x 16 in., painted wood frames needlework with "Hurrah" has 9 in. vertical tear on silk ground, both with losses and fraying on edges, extensive staining, fading and loose in frames. Notes: The Plymouth Cordage Company was the largest rope maker in the nation during the height of the sailing ships.. Provenance: Said to be collection of Herbert Hemphill, Jr., founder of the American Folk Art Museum

Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser’s risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges.
