Burslem, England, (established 1815), baluster form with cupped rim, art nouveau decoration on shoulder of applied stylized leaf branches and small Tudor Rose motifs on brown glaze ground outline with beads against an overall mottled grey-green ground, impressed Doulton seal with crown and lion, "147Y", with inscribed artist's initials, 11 in., [good condition]; baluster form with flared rim, the body tapestry decorated in pale-blue, white and iron-red on textured and gilded ground, impressed on bottom "DOULTON/LAMBETH/703" and "DOULTON/SLATER'S/PATENT" with incised initials "EB", 14 in., [good condition]; ogee-form body with white and iron-red flowers on textured and gilded ground with long eggaxerated pear-shaped cobalt-blue neck and flared rim, applied acanthus leaves, impressed on bottom Doulton seal with crown and lion, partial "DOULTON/SLATER'S/PATENT" mark, incised artist's initials, 15-1/2 in., [good condition]. Notes: John Slater (1844 - 1914) was the Art Director at Doulton & Co. Burslem from 1887 until his death in 1914. The ware marked "DOULTON & SLATERS PATENT" was made by use of a decorative technique in which fabrics were impressed into the surface of clay.. Sales Tax: If you live in North Carolina and/or pick up from the auction house, and do not have a valid resale tax number on file with us, you MUST pay North Carolina state sales tax. The NC Sales Tax will not apply to any items being shipped out of state (unless the client resides in North Carolina) or to those clients with a resale tax number.
