late 1800s early 1900s, small jug, light salt glaze, stamped "E.F. ROBERTS, OPELIKA, ALA", collared neck with tooled rim, applied strap handle, possibly Randolph or Perry County, 9-1/4 in.; light brown glazed jug, stamped "A.MILLER" at shoulder, short spout with applied strap handle, possibly made in Perry or Pickens County, 10-1/4 in.; large cylindrical jug, runny mottled brown alkaline glaze, small flared spout, arched strap handle with tail, possibly Randolph County, 15 in.

Note: Roberts stamped jug is likely a merchant's jar, possibly made in Randolph County by Pittman family potters. A Miller stamped jug was made by Abraham Miller Cole, former Union Soldier from Pennsylvania that moved to Baldwin County and worked for the LaCoste family, he eventually married Frances LaCoste, over time he moved around and potted in various counties and also Mississippi, he established an extensive pottery dynasty in central Alabama that continued into the 21st century. Condition
glaze voids and anomalies as made, minor surface abrasions, minor glaze and clay body chips, Roberts jug with kiln debris, rim wear, abrasions, Miller Jug with base edge chips and wear, large jug with 3 in. abrasion to lower body, otherwise good condition
Available payment options
Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
