probably North Carolina or Virginia, early 19th century, walnut with poplar and yellow pine secondary, top with original strap hinges opening to an interior set with a lidded till, underside of top with period chalk inscriptions, two dovetailed drawers and original straight bracket feet and blocking, probably original locks and brass drawer pulls, dark-stained finish overall, 26-1/2 x 47-1/2 x 24 in., excellent condition, light surface wear and some shrinkage separations, scattered minor abrasions and other minor flaws, minor loss at one rear facing.
