Top Chest
Southwest Virginia, early 19th century, hinged lid with open interior, the front with distinctive inlaid escutcheon and fan skirt drop, set on original ogee bracket feet, dovetailed and cut nail construction, 23-1/4 x 42 x 18-1/2 in.. Condition: refinished, partial loss at one rear foot facing, hinges replaced (interior with later bracing at backboard), formerly fitted with till now lacking, small loss at top rear corner of one side, later strip at top of backboard, other scattered surface wear and finish losses.
