attributed to Maryland or Virginia, possibly Williamsburg, 1770-1780, walnut throughout, broad double chair-back with pierced splats, relief-carved with scrolls centering wheat or rice motifs with ribbon surround, scrolled arms, molded legs with stretchers, 36-1/2 x 65-1/2 x 25 -1/2 in., refinished, seat frame blocking and slip seat replaced, otherwise generally good condition, scattered surface wear and abrasions, minor crack at one arm attachment, minor dent in crest rail, other scattered minor flaws.
