American, relief casting of gold and enamel eagle, tests 18 kt., enamel medallion depicts two senators and Cincinnatus, surrounding motto "VERT PRO SOCI CINC INST 1783", reverse enamel medallion partially worn, 25 x 14 mm., (medal only), attached to blue and white ribbin, 3 grams gross weight, wear to enamel, fading and wear to ribbon. Notes: Insignia of the Society of the Cincinnati began in 1783 as a hereditary society of officers of the Continental Army.
