Dick Button's/Ice-Travaganza, 1964, designed by Ivan Chermayeff, color lithographic advertising poster, 44-3/4 x 28-5/8 in.; metal frame, 45-1/4 x 29-1/4 in.
Note:In honor of New York hosting the World's Fair of 1964, Button produced an ice show in the New York City Pavilion in Flushing Meadows, Queens. His "Ice-Travaganza" featured 150 skaters, headed by former Olympic stars and comedians, including Ronnie Robertson and Don McPherson. Framing the stage were iced slides that skaters used to descend to the ice surface, which was a semi-circle stage jutting into the audience. There were ten romantic vignettes that continuously moved onto the ice-from elegant garden ball rooms to ski slopes to skaters dressed as animals. A huge iron chandelier was lowered to the ice during the last number, spreading pink and red ribbons to create a tent-like covering.
