(Guilford County, NC, 1829-1878) circa 1870, percussion half stock, 42-1/2 in barrel, 5-3/4 in. rounded three screw barrel tang, faint "J.M. Wood" stamp on top of barrel, dovetail blade front sight, wide split rear sight, 1/2 in. bore, engraved lock plate and cock, engraved silver side plate with stamped "H. Blevins / Gun / July 15/ 1877", figured maple stock, carved raised cheek rest, 7 in. flourish engraved decorative silver plate under forend, brass trigger guard, butt and toe plate, ramrod thimble and guides, and forend cap, 58-1/4 in. overall

Note: J.M. Wood worked with Anderson Lamb according to the 1850 census, at age 31 he was listed in the 1860 census as a gunsmith with wife Laura, age 25, The Longrifle Makers of Guilford County, pg. 19, C. Michael Briggs.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.

handling wear consistent with age and use, missing ramrod, oxidation to exterior of barrel, heavy pitting to lock plate and side of barrel at lock plate, pitting to barrel tang, tiny abrasions to silver components, dents and dings to metal surfaces, barrel pin end loss, abrasions to stock, loss to stock at cock and above lock plate, several small splits in wood at thimble and ram rod channel, some infill under stock, cock stuck in cocked position
