.44 caliber, 8 in. octagonal barrel with cone front sight, stamped "PATENTED DEC. 17 1861" and "MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON ILION N.Y." six round cylinder, brass trigger guard, "S" stamp to left side of frame, "A" stamp to left side of barrel, "S" stamps to right side of frame and barrel, "A" stamp to brass trigger guard, letter stamps on base of walnut grips, "513" ? serial number, 13-3/4 in. overall
