Colt Root 1855 model 5A side hammer percussion revolver, 4-1/2 in. round barrel, fluted cylinder, serial number 4618 on bottom of iron backstrap, top of barrel stamped "ADDRESS COL. COLT NEW-YORK U.S.A.", overall length 9-1/4 in.; two Smith & Wesson model 1-1/2 first issue revolvers, .32 caliber, 3-1/2 in. octagonal flip barrels stamped "SMITH & WESSON. SPRINGFIELD. MASS. PAT'D. APR. 3. & JULY 5. 1859.", rosewood grips, serial numbers 2947 and 16669 on bottom of iron backstraps, 8-1/4 in. overall

Colt pistol with light patina to metal, oxidation in barrel, handling wear to wood, tiny chip to top right of handle, staining to cylinder, trigger, hammer and cylinder function but cylinder will get hung up and not rotate for a few cycles every once in a while, earlier Smith pistol with heavy oxidation and patina, lateral movement of barrel due to loss of locking pin, action does not function appropriately, free movement to cylinder and hammer, later Smith pistol with cleaner surface, trigger and hammer function, cylinder will rotate with manipulation, chips and wear to both handles
