Mahogany Sideboard
probably Irish, early 19th century, back set with brass towel rack with scrolled ends, top with brass-inlaid edge over a single long drawer flanked by two cabinet doors, door and drawer facings all with pollard elm panels and brass inlay, turned and spiral-turned legs set on brass casters, underside of long drawer with several period inscriptions including "Made by Thomas Chartres for Mr. Thos. Taylor Irish...March 4th 1815", 52 x 87 x 24-1/2 in., repairs to brass S-form support for towel rack (ill-fitting, possibly associated), long drawer set with later felt and cutlery dividers, some distress and resetting to brass inlay, door panels formerly fitted with brass pulls now lacking, plywood floor panels at bottom of cabinets, some veneer repairs at long drawer front.
