probably Elizabethan, late 16th/early 17th century, boldly turned and retaining a rich dark old surface, possibly walnut with oak plank seat, set with a loose cushion, 42 x 25 x 20 in. - Provenance: Estate of Paul W. Doll, Jr., Lake Toxaway, North Carolina
Condition
generally good considering age, lacking several small turned drops and elements including at top of crest rail, somewhat loose at joints, wear and some losses at bottom of feet and lower front stretcher, plank seat with small old repair (seat appears to have good age but possibly old replacement), other typical shrinkage cracks, wear especially at hand grips, small loss at back of one rear stile (where upper turned arm joins), some chips at bottoms of legs
