Desk and Bookcase Piedmont, North Carolina, 1800, in early probably original finish, upper case with elaborate blind-fretwork, dentil-molded and reeded cornice over two eight-pane glazed doors opening to a fixed shelved interior in early Prussian blue paint, lower case with fitted desk interior with 13 dovetailed drawers, original hinges, lock and most glazing, heavy yellow pine secondary throughout, prospect door opens to three drawers and a secret compartment, 99 x 45 x 23 in., long drawer brasses replaced and removed from lower drawers, otherwise excellent as-found condition, missing one side bed molding, minor crack and screw repair at one hinge of fallboard, fallboard lacking lock and with some wear and minor losses at edges, lacking two interior valances.
