British, early 18th century, with arched and stepped crest, scrolled arms, cabriole legs with pad feet and turned stretchers, brick red and cream upholstery, 48 x 38 x 31 in., seat 20 in. - Provenance: Estate of Robert K. Johnson, Aiken, South Carolina two long stretchers replaced, crack at one rear foot, cracks and repairs to short stretchers at joint with cross stretcher, small patch at one front toe, small break and repair at other toe, other wear and abrasions to legs and stretchers, some knee returns restored, modern upholstery generally good (not examined under upholstery)
