Bookcase British, 18th century, with later Japanning, oak and pine case elaborately decorated with chinoiserie scenes and figures on elephants on dark green ground, shelved upper case over fitted desk interior and four long drawers, 87-1/4 x 38-1/2 x 20 in.; opens to 32-1/2 in. shrinkage and some warping to door panels, other scattered cracks, shrinkage and separations, brasses replaced, upper and lower case possibly a marriage, feet probably old restorations, cornice moldings replaced, other repairs and restorations throughout.
