early to mid 18th century, wool and silk thread on silk, executed in chainstitch, French knot, and watercolor, depicting a man fishing, with straw hat and pitcher at his feet, underneath a tree, the other a woman seated on a swing suspended from tree branches, man with watercolor highlighted background, each with hand painted faces and hands, 8-1/2 x 8-1/2 in.; set in later reverse painted glass and parcel giltwood frame, monogrammed "E.E.M.", 18-3/8 x 18-3/8 in.; together with portrait of needlework prior owner, set in giltwood frame, frame 11 x 12-1/4 in.
