attributed to Wiltshire, dated "1672", two applied strap handles with thumb rests, cover with pierced tiered rims and chalice form finial, inscribed along the rim "Drink Wp Yower Drink Beware of The/Fox", inscribed between the handles with initials "RCM" and date "1672", surrounded by incised lattice pattern outlined with punched dots, covered in a deep reddish brown mottled glaze, 10-1/2 x 7-1/8 in.

Note: A close parallel to the design of this cover is found on a blue and white delftware punchbowl or wassail dated "1708", illustrated in The Longridge Collection of English Slipware and Delftware, Volume 2, page 336, D306.

rim chips (some filled), one with associated crack, rim hairline crack, cover with losses to lower tiered rim, chip to flange, other scattered chips and glaze fritting, scratches
