Andirons attributed to Philadelphia, probably William Tuston, active circa 1802-1812, each with faceted lemon top over column support with engraved initials at front "WT(?)", deeply spurred legs, iron billet bars, 18 in., good condition overall, old surface with scattered wear, dents and minor fire damage consistent with age and use. Notes: A closely related pair signed by Tuston is illustrated in Fennimore, [Metalwork in Early America,] page 137.
