Joe's Place, 1959, signed lower right "Ogden Deal/1959", oil on canvas, 40-1/4 x 12-1/8 in.; original painted wood frame,. Condition: light grime, original stretcher and tacking edge, 'bloom effect' around area of head; frame with abrasions. Notes: "My grandfather was Colon Goode, many called him "Andy". He had a sign painting business, Goode Sign Co., in NC many years ago. Ogden Deal worked for the Goode Sign Co. They painted a lot of signs and billboards. My father said Grandpa Goode helped an artist go to school/study and he thought it was Ogden Deal. Ogden Deal painted the man in the doorway for my grandfather to give as a gift to my father, Joe!
