Columbia, South Carolina, circa 1852, .69 caliber, round smoothbore 42 in. barrel, "V" and "P" and other hallmark near left side of barrel flat, lock plate marked "PALMETTO ARMORY" around a palm tree, and "S" and "C" with a five point star in between, "COLUMBIA S.C. 1852" stamped behind hammer, "SC" stamped on buttplate adjacent to screw, top of buttstock stamped with what appear to be a "C", "F" and "15", black walnut full stock, barrel bands, bayonet lug, sling mounts, ramrod, overall length 57-3/4 in.ÿ - Provenance: From the Collection of Ashley Halsey, Jr., Alexandria and Spotsylvania, Virginia
