The Birds Of America, From Drawings Made In The United States And Their Territories by John James Audubon (1785-1851), New York/Philadelphia: Published By J.J. Audubon And J.B. Chevalier, 1840-1844, seven volumes (complete), containing 500 lithographs, each volume with list of subscribers, bound in three quarter dark green leather over marbled boards, gilt lettering and spine decoration, aeg, 10-3/4 x 7-1/8 x 2 in.

Condition

light wear to extremities, bumped corners, some scuffs and losses to boards, most volumes with hinges tender, most text pages with some dampstaining and foxing, some foxing and offsetting to tissue guards, most plates in good condition; vol. 1 front board/spine binding popped, plate 46 with water ring stain; vol. 2 plate 71 with staining to lower right, plate 84 tissue guard with tear; vol. 3 binding (front board and spine) popped, plates 143-145 with some toning and offsetting; vol. 4 plate 219 bound in upside down; vol. 5-7 latter pages with some water staining at lower edge (affecting plates 323-331 at lower edge - see additional photos); plate 471 bound in out of order (between 475-476); vol. 7 title page with small tear

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
