Japanese, blade 28 in. from tip to [tsuba], [hamon] blade pattern visible, edge sharp from tip to [habaki], signed tang, black patina with age, 6-1/4 in. from [tsuba] to rear of tang, two holes in tang but only one used for handle securing peg, iron [tsuba] with inlaid contrasting metal dots, leather-wrapped rayskin hilt, lacquered scabbard, 36-3/4 in. total length, blade with discolored areas and very small rust specs, scabbard with loss and separations at front and rear seams, missing piece at throat, [habaki] with wear and abrasions, wear and scratches to tsuba.
