attributed to John Swisegood (1796-1874) Davidson County, 1820-1830, a fine example with single case construction, scrolled pediment with carved rosettes, original fluted urn form finials on reeded plinths, central finial on a herringbone pattern reeded support centering a heart motif, two inlaid arched glazed doors opening to blue painted shelved interior, doors flanked by rectangular panels with reeded capitals and bases, further flanked by rope twist corners, fluted mid molding over single dovetailed drawer, probably original brass pulls, over two paneled doors with shelved interior and flanked by rope twist corners, set on original bracket feet, undisturbed backboards with cut nails, poplar secondary, 101 x 49-1/2 x 22 in. - Provenance: Private North Carolina Collection

excellent condition overall, original feet with minor patches and repairs including 1 x 4 in. patch to one facing, appears to retain much of its early door glazing (one panel with small crack), later interior paint with flaking and some color distress, pediment in excellent condition, other scattered minor surface flaws
