(Edgefield, South Carolina, 1811-1881) likely made at Shaw's Creek, Edgefield District, South Carolina, circa 1841 - 1850, tapered ovoid form, speckled olive green glaze to upper portion of jar with glaze runs at back of jug, light olive green glaze with brown speckles to lower portion of jar, applied iron and kaolin slip floral decoration to front of jar, kaolin slip "2" capacity mark inside floral bloom, applied arched strap handle, ringed neck with collared spout, 13-3/4 in.

Provenance: From the Collection of Elbert H. Parsons, Jr., Huntsville, Alabama, purchased from Charlton Hall Galleries, Inc. during their Visions of Grandeur Sale, June 2007, lot 550, this lot is accompanied by an original invoice of the purchase.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.

glaze voids and anomalies as made, very minor abrasions around belly and minor glaze frits, slight wear to decoration, all consistent with age and use, 14-1/2 in. reverse "C" unstabilized hairline to right side of jar from shoulder down to base, continuing across base for 5 in., other small associated miniscule barley visible hairlines in glaze up side at lower body, associated hairline splitting off base hairline for 1-1/2 in. then up side of jar for 3 in., the smaller hairlines are stable, residue on exterior and around base, wear to base edge, very good clean overall presentation in spite of long hairline Note - Brunk Auctions makes every effort to offer accurate and thorough information, but encourages prospective bidders to inspect items in person whenever possible.
