 .450 EX, underlever action, 14-1/2 in. LOP, 26 in. barrel, 42-1/2 in. overall, finely engraved with flourishes and markings "12751" and "charge 4 drams case 3-1/4 inches" also "Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London" and "winners of all the field rifle trials London"; Note:  M. C. Wiest (1921 – 2000) was born and raised in Jamestown, North Dakota.  Known as “Red”, or “M.C.” he had a life-long interest in how things worked, which led to an interest in firearms and gunsmithing.  M.C earned a degree in chemical engineering at the University of North Dakota in 1943 and was immediately recruited to serve in the top-secret WWII Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.  After the war his gunsmithing hobby became a family business.  M. C. Wiest became widely known as a firearms authority and developed an award -winning antique firearm collection and gun book collection.; Provenance: From the Collection of M. C.
