(Japanese, 1760-1849) Two important framed [surimono] woodblock prints from Hokusai, one with a table covered in elaborate cloth with scythe and hats, with poem inscription, one with elaborate samurai armor and scroll on table, with poem inscription, from the series [Shish? no Uchi] or [Four Characters from the Buddhist Bible], print area 8 x 7 in.; lot includes the large-format book [Surimono: Prints by Elbow] by Polster and Marks, Lovejoy Press, which describes both of the prints. Condition: faded, light soiling, one floating, one under mat.
