American or British, early 19th century, inlaid top opening to a fitted interior with early paper lining, lift out tray and numerous sewing implements including bone spools, set on tripod base with baluster turned support and brass casters, pull out slide to support lid, single dovetailed drawer with mahogany secondary, 33-1/2 x 22-1/2 x 20 in.
scattered veneer cracks, distress, with some minor losses to inlay, underside of base with later metal spider, box frame with some cracks and repairs, sits slightly loose on base (unusual design, pedestal may be original to box)
