New England, possibly Salem, Massachusetts, 1770-1800, finely shaped cartouche form top in figured walnut, on urn turned support with tripod base and slipper feet, underside of top support with early inscription "A.S. Wilson", 26-1/4 x 15-3/4 in. - Provenance: Anthony Werneke Antiques, purchased 1998 for $6800 (with copy of receipt); Private Virginia Collection
finely crafted and in excellent condition, very minor cracks at screw attachments for top (one screw probably reset), minor scratches to top (no repairs found)
