Still Life with Roses, 1955, signed lower left "Helen Farr '55", oil on canvas board, 16 x 11-7/8 in.; original wood frame, yellowed varnish otherwise original condition, abrasion at top; frame with abrasions, mildew on liner. Notes: Helen Farr was the wife of "The Eight" artist, John Sloan. She studied under both Sloan and Boardman Robinson. From 1940 to 1944, she was director of the Society of Independent Artists. A philanthropist, the Delaware Art Museum was a beneficiary of her efforts which in turn, prompted the dedication of the library in her name..
