New England Country Landscapes, a pair, signed lower left and lower right "Helen Farr '42", oil on Masonite, 10 x 13-7/8 in.; matching original wood frames, yellowed varnish otherwise original condition; frames with abrasions. Notes: Helen Farr was the wife of "The Eight" artist, John Sloan. She studied under both Sloan and Boardman Robinson. From 1940 to 1944, she was director of the Society of Independent Artists. A philanthropist, the Delaware Art Museum was a beneficiary of her efforts which in turn, prompted the dedication of the library in her name..
