ALS signed "Geo Walton," one page both sides, Louisville, (Georgia), July 21, 1801, Letter to his son in Virginia, in part, " I think my son, you may have some cause of complaint, in my having sent to you (o) far away froms (sic) and not to have written to you so long...After the Circuit over, I had to atend (sic) at Louisville about our University and was appointed one of a committee to go away up to Jackson County to choose a place for building it...(University of Georgia), the oversee soon got well and has agreed very well with the Negros commanding them due authority at the same time", 8-1/4 x 13 in., rare letter concerning the founding of the University of Georgia, George Walton is a Declaration of Independence signer, served in the Revolutionary War, United States Senator, Governor of Georgia and Trustee of the University of Georgia, matted and framed in a double-sided glass frame, 21-1/4 x 24-1/2 in.; accompanying lot is a Certificate of Authenticity from R.R.
