British, 18th century, with leaf carved crest and open splat, carved arms, leaf carved cabriole legs with carved pad feet, blue striped upholstered slip seat, 39 x 26-1/2 x 25 in., seat height 18 in. - Provenance: Estate of Robert K. Johnson, Aiken, South Carolina patches and repairs to top of rear stiles and at crest rail attachments, cracks and repairs at bottom of splat, wear to carving at hand grips, some later seat blocking, patches to rear corners of back feet, cracks at front legs at seat rail (scars from previous braces now removed), period slip seat, modern upholstery in good condition
