Miniature Chest
attributed to Tennessee or North Carolina, early 19th century, shaped skirt with distinctive inlays, foot and skirt construction, illegible inscriptions at back of one drawer, old dry surface, 24-1/2 x 19-1/2 x 10 in.. Condition: excellent condition overall, backboards with later white paint, typical minor surface wear and abrasions. Notes: The distinctive inlays on the skirt of this chest recall inlay motifs in other Eastern Tennessee furniture.. Provenance: Polk Place Antiques; said to have been purchased out of a private collection in Kentucky; Collection of Anne McPherson and the Late John Bivins, Jr.
