Bow-Front Chest
attributed to Norfolk area of Virginia, circa 1800, dense figured mahogany throughout with poplar and yellow pine secondary, four dovetailed and graduated drawers, probably original brass pulls, patera-inlaid skirt and French feet, 38-1/2 x 40-1/2 x 22-1/2 in., skirt restored and some patches and repairs to feet by David Beckford, otherwise excellent condition with typical surface wear and flaws, cracks at top, case sides and one front foot and patch at the other front foot, (photo of chest pre-conservation accompanies lot).
