Andirons
probably British for the Charleston, South Carolina market, circa 1800, each with star and swag engraved urn finial over leaf and flower engraved tapered square column and trestle base, the iron billet bars set with log stops, 18-3/4 in.. Provenance: Private Collection
scattered casting flaws, one with small holes and area of infill to back of support, the other with small hole at top of column capital, posts set with brass nuts rather than peened over (appears to be as made but not removed)
