Bachelor‘s Chest British, 18th century, highly figured walnut veneers with herringbone banding, fold-over top, four graduated drawers with oak linings, bail and rosette brasses, straight bracket feet, rich brown color, 32-1/2 x 29-1/2 x 14-3/4 in., 29-1/2 in. open. Provenance: Private Collection, Wilson, North Carolina

Condition

original feet with restorations and repairs including some later blocking, one rear facing pieced approximately 1 in., some veneer repairs and losses including 2 to 3 in. patch at top, drawers and lopers are swelled and fit tightly, period brasses possibly original (one has been reset and with plugged holes), otherwise generally good condition with scattered surface distress and variation
