likely of Pennsylvania make, early 19th century, octagonal rifled 43 in. barrel, .45 caliber, flintlock plate marked "H.W. MORTIMER", barrel marked "HB" on top, brass trigger guard, butt plate, ramrod thimbles, side plate, and incised patch box, inset silver incised figural "Jesters Head" at trigger guard finial, inset silver incised eagle escutcheon at cheek rest, highly figured curly maple full stock with carved decoration to sides of fore stock, brass stock cap and dovetailed blade front sight, wooden ramrod, overall length 58-3/4 in. - Provenance: From the Collection of Ashley Halsey, Jr., Alexandria and Spotsylvania, Virginia
